Couple Awarded $2 Million in Medical Malpractice Case

A jury recently ruled in favor of a couple in a medical malpractice suit and awarded them nearly $2 million in damages to be paid by St. Vincent Hospital. The medical malpractice suit claimed that the misdiagnosis of several strokes that the husband suffered in 2004 and the delay in treatment for cancer at the hospital, led to legal blindness and her husband's inability to walk.

The wife expressed to local media following the ruling that she was pleased with the outcome but "no amount of money will cure her husband, who is unable to live at their home." The couple has been married for 38 years and she brings her husband home for special events now. However, due to his condition, he has "missed his eldest son's wedding, and her two other children, a daughter and another son."
